Biting Babies and Party Planning
So then that got me to thinking. Is biting among small children really such a common thing that it is now considered "the norm"? Because actually I was concerned that a behavior I personally deemed "aggressive" is viewed as "common" and that "it just happens" and that's that. Then I really started thinking is biting considered the "norm" among small toddlers who are in a day care setting all day, with other small children? Is the commonality the same among same aged small toddlers who are cared for in their own homes by one or two parents or a nanny?
I suppose what I was really wondering if this biting each other was really just a natural part of childhood development, like growing teeth, as much as these women stated it was. Or if it's really more prevalent among children who are at day care vs. children who remain at home.
And for my next trick . . . . . My birthday! *clappin* Since I'm full of questions at this moment in time, is it in bad taste that I'm siting here picking out food items I want catered from my favorite spot, WholeFoods and actually planning my own "tea party" or is it just sad? Yall know I ain't got nothing better to do than make a detailed list of all the things I want for the party I'm planning for myself. And yes I'm writing out how many balloons I want AND the color. *chuckle* And then I'ma leave the list with the hubby and STRESS how much I really want a party. *thinking* Ain't no body coming, so I don't know why I'm tripping. Is that bad? Planning ya own sh*t? *shakin head* I think I may be in need of an intervention. LOL.
Anyway, stay tuned to see if my "party" was a success. *shakin head* I keep saying I like parties, but I don't think nobody hear me tho. What they say? "whenever 2 or more are gathered together in my name . . . " Yeah, I'll drink to that. *clink*

I think you're right about the biting. I think it is more prevalent amongst kids in daycares. Which is why my baby IS NOT in daycare and hopefully wont HAVE to be until he's school age. *crossing fingers*
Good luck with the party. I'm sure since you've planned it all out, it should be a success. Smile. I hope you have a Fabulous B-day!!!!!

i play bite with my kids. always have. but none of them ever bit anybody but me. well only the last 2 have bitten me. Anna bit the hell out of me. i had teeth marks and a bruise. i've only had my first 2 in day care and they weren't there for years on end more like a year so i don't know. my Calease was bit in the ear at the nursery in church. and the little boy got kicked out for a month. but thats about it. i knew his mom and he wasn't in daycare. so who knows.

Gurrlll, you deserve to be treated to your very own party and pick what you want. LOL. You have 4 kids all day and you need to be pampered in the way you want.

Happy early birthday! Do not feel at all ashamed about planning your own party! That's what being grown is all about - knowing how to get what you want - even if you have to do it yourself, LOL!

well i'm late on this but i got my own two cents too.
cuz biting don't sound cool to me, at any age. baby bliss never bit a soul. (tho she did choke a lil boy once after a very real, very traumatic incident at the doc's office. thank God his mama and i were already friends.)
one of the reasons i'm glad we home school is the some of the behaviors some people think of as "normal" and acceptable.
